Camp and COVID-19

As we prepare for a fantastic summer, we want to let you know that we are also closely monitoring trusted resources regarding COVID-19.  In these days of uncertainty, paper product shortages at the stores and the intense media coverage of the Coronavirus spread, we are taking preventative measures to keep our staff and guests safe and participating in their events. The World Health Organization, Provincial and Local Health Authorities have issued safeguards for us all to follow.

COVID-19 spreads person-to-person, generally between people within 6 feet from one another. It also spreads through respiratory droplets from the cough or sneeze of an infected person. These droplets can reach the noses, mouths, or lungs of nearby people. It’s possible that the virus can spread from contact with infected surfaces.

The main symptoms of COVID-19 are: Low Grade Fever, Dry Cough, Shortness of breath

Our Process

  • All guests are asked to wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, hence the happy birthday song. Wash prior to eating, after the bathroom, and if coughing or sneezing. Remind each other to use your sleeve to cough or sneeze into – then go wash.
  • Do not touch your face, especially around the eyes, nose and mouth, as this is how germs transmit from hands to the face.
  • Sanitizer is available at the camp, but it is NOT a substitute for hand washing.
  • If a guest registered with a retreat group has traveled internationally they are asked to not attend the retreat.
  • If a registered guest is sick, please ask them not to attend.
  • Retreat leaders must screen their retreat guests before attending and assure the camp that no one has traveled within the past 14 days. The Government of Canada website says that 75% of cases are travellers and 10% are close contacts of travellers.   • Camp directors will ensure no ill staff are working.
  • We want you to know that our standard cleaning process for our kitchen already includes consistent hand washing, sanitizing of all surfaces with health unit recommended cleansers and we will increase the cleansing of door handles and common surfaces for the foreseeable future.
  • Our housekeeping staff have also increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Guest group payments can be made by etransfer with a receipt emailed. We can process your payments without handling paperwork.
  • Campers are invited to continue registering for HOTM and LIT.  We will send an invoice so you know your total bill, but payment will NOT be required at this time.  We will let registered camping families know when payment is required at a later date.
