Summer camp has a way of sticking with you.

The friendships, the laughter, the late nights, the quiet moments, the big questions, the sense that something meaningful is happening. For many kids, camp is more than just a week away. It’s where they feel seen, valued, and encouraged in their faith.

And behind so many of those moments is a camp counsellor who showed up.

ECM Camps is currently seeking individuals to serve as camp counsellors and day camp leaders this summer.

Camp Mishewah (overnight camp):

• Male counsellors (age 15+) for Scamps & Champs
• Male and a few female counsellors (age 16+) for Jr. Teen
• Counsellors (age 20+) for Sr. Teen

Stayner Camp – Trail of the Pines (day camp):

• Day Camp Leaders (age 16+) for Sports Camp, Creative Arts Camp and Classic Camp.
  • Please note: Day camp does not provide accommodations or meals outside of the camp schedule from 8:15-4:30, so this role is best suited for those who live locally or are able to stay independently at the campground.

Camp leaders do not need to have all the answers or extensive experience. What matters most is a willingness to care, to listen, to lead by example, and to point kids toward Jesus in real and meaningful ways.

We asked Mishewah counsellors – from recent summers and years gone by – what the best part about being a camp counsellor was. Here’s what they said:

Serving as a counsellor or day camp leader is more than just a summer role. It’s a chance to grow in your faith, build leadership skills, and be part of creating a supportive community while making a lasting impact in the lives of children and youth. For campers, a caring leader makes all the difference, creating a safe, fun, and faith-filled environment and walking alongside them as they grow

Eva Hayes volunteered at Stayner Day Camp in 2022 and shared: “I invested my time into the spiritual growth of young people, and it was a rewarding experience. I didn’t have the energy for every sports activity, but I discovered that some of the most meaningful connections happened around the lunch table and in the quiet moments between events. Let’s not underestimate—or limit—the impact we can have. Our young people need more voices, more presence, and more coaches.”
